y = |x-2| + 1

If       x-2 ≥ 0,   then |x-2| = x-2, so y = (x - 2) + 1 = x - 1; y = x - 1

So   if    x ≥ 2, then y = x - 1

If      x-2 < 0,    then |x-2| = -(x-2) = -x + 2, so y =  {-x + 2} + 1 = -x + 3; y = -x + 3

So   if    x < 2, then y = -x + 3
