Early Christian music was most strongly influenced by Byzantine Music. The Byzantine Music originates from the Byzantine Empire. The songs and hymns from this Empire were composed in Greek culture which was used during different festivities such as festivals, courtly ceremonies and as liturgical music. In addition, early Christian music was mainly vocals since instruments were connected with pagan rituals.
